At PC Backup Review, we take pride in being one of the first publications dedicated to computer backup. Founded in 2006, long before online backup was popular, we set out on a journey to explore the dangers of not backing up your computer. Back then, Carbonite didn’t run ads on TV, Dropbox wasn’t invented so people still carried thumb drives, online backup wasn’t integrated into common products like antivirus security suites, and hardware like external drives and even DVD-Rs were still rather expensive. Today, times have changed, but one thing remains – we’re dedicated to making sure everyone has their computer backed up as securely as possible with the greatest ease and lowest cost.

To keep up with our goals, we have released an entirely new website with tons of new features – PCBackupReview.Org.

We first revealed a new website design at the end of 2011. It was an improvement, but we quickly realized it did not meet our high standards, so we immediately began another overhaul. I’m pleased to announce today that our latest design and new features are live! This new design is cleaner and brighter, so it’s both pleasing to the eye and easier to navigate.

Each and every article was updated, too. It’s shocking just how many online backup providers have gone out of business in the last few years. About half the services we reviewed or included in our “best of” lists either shut down or were purchased by a larger company!

The better services are still around, and the ones still at the top of the heap have improved by leaps and bounds. Larger amounts of storage space are being offered, and new features – external hard drive backup, built-in file sync, and mobile apps for iPhone and Android – are becoming standard.

Speaking of storage space, our price comparison chart used to be based around storage needs of 10, 25, and 50GB. Yes, a lot of backup companies only offered 10 and 25GB plans! Today it is based on 50, 100, 250, and unlimited storage plans (500+GB.)
