ADrive Has a New Design!

Though I have only been using ADrive since 2007, their website design made me think it was from way back in 1997! Sure, I’m exaggerating, but that design was simply too outdated for a company in such a high-tech industry. It made me cringe each time I logged in.

Just look at this atrocity:

And that was the best looking page of their site, too.

Finally, earlier in 2012, ADrive updated their design with a whole new website. Here’s the new look:

The new design is much easier on the eyes and easier to navigate. It’s fresh and clean. Thank you ADrive!

And They Released an Android App!

To complement the new design, ADrive appears to be improving their service as well. The latest announcement was the release of an Android app called ADrive Mobile, available in the Google Play store.

The app allows you to upload and download files from your ADrive account onto your Android device and vice versa. Just took a great picture on your phone? Upload it to your ADrive. Need to check your records before a meeting? No need for a computer – just pull them up on your ADrive-enabled phone.

It’s what you would expect it to do.

There was a bit of a problem, though – this free app does NOT work with a free ADrive account! So if you want to use the app, you’ll have to subscribe to the “Personal Premium” plan for $9.95/month. This has led to a 1.9 star average rating (out of 5 stars) because ADrive users are downloading the app for free, only to find out it won’t work for them.

I’m happy to see ADrive hard at work again, but they’ll need to work even harder if they want to catch up with their competitors. A new website design and a free (but not really) mobile app don’t do a whole lot.

Just look at Dropbox – you can get a free 2GB account and you’ll be able to use it on any of your computers or mobile devices at no extra charge.

So, ADrive, what else do you have in store for 2012?

  1. ADrive still exists? I thought they gave up years ago.
