Review of JungleDisk Online Backup Service

jungledisk logo

A while back I heard about Amazon S3 Service, which provided online file storage. I looked at it but it's not for personal use; more for businesses and web developers. However I get to use it now, easily, as JungleDisk now uses it. Basically JungleDisk is a piece of software that allows you to use Amazon S3 services. Right through your existing Amazon account too!

Let's look at what you get...

Store an unlimited amount of data for only 15¢ per gigabyte No monthly subscription fee, no startup fee, no commitment Your data is fully encrypted at all times Data is stored at multiple Amazon.com datacenters around the country for high availability Access files directly from Windows Explorer, Mac OSX Finder, and Linux Automatically backup your important files quickly and easily

No restrictions on what or how much you backup Other online backup services place some restrictions on what type of files you can backup or how much data you can backup in a period of time. In some cases you may not be able to backup your program files, large media, or system files. Even services that offer "unlimited" backup typically have restrictions on "reasonable" usage or reserve the right to terminate your service at any time with no reason. With Jungle Disk, your storage truly is unlimited.

I guess you pay $20 to get JungleDisk, one time fee. Then just pay Amazon S3 for the storage.
